| The Camas/Washougal Soccer Club and FC Vancouver Soccer Club
and have formed an alliance! Effective with board approvals at
both the CWSC and FCV general meetings over the last two weeks,
the Presidents of their respective clubs have shook hands on
this exciting alliance.
What does this mean? It means that for the first time there
will be a 3 tier soccer system in SW Washington featuring a
place to play for soccer players of all ages, interest and skill
levels. It also means that a player can develop at his/her
desired pace by taking advantage of the vast opportunities for
training both tactically and technically – and all under one
“roof”. This new alliance will feature a dynamic Rec program, a
well established Select level and now the State and regionally
recognized Premier soccer offering that FC Vancouver brings.
Along those lines, we have created a new advanced competition
club under the oversight of the CWSC. This new club is being
called the Washington Soccer Academy (WSA). The WSA will be the
umbrella club for both the Select and Premier teams. The colors
for both levels will be yellow and black and we have a logo
being designed.
The CWSC will retain its logos and royal blue and white
uniform colors for the rec program. The rec program will also
benefit by being able to take advantage of the variety of WSA
coach and player training opportunities they will offer during
the year.
The first evidence of the benefits of the WSA will be during
the tryouts. Players will be able to tryout at the same time
for either the Premier level or the Select level. It should be
noted here that the Premier level will continue to reach out to
players throughout SW Washington and Oregon to build their
teams; while the Select level will, as usual, harbor players
primarily from Camas and Washougal.
Much is yet to be accomplished and no doubt there will be
bumps in the road.
For example, we desire to formally merge in the near future
so we’ll need to get that approved up thru the WSYSA and of
course the WSA uniforms will need to be designed and
transitioned in.
Please check back throughout the year for more updates on
this association between two very successful soccer clubs. Also,
let us know if you have any questions about this announcement.
We welcome your feedback and are working on some FAQs we will
post on both of our web sites in the near future.
There is much to look forward to!
